Miracle

Pictured above is my brother's Chevy Silverado Truck that was in a rollover accident on 12/6/2010 His son was in the truck and he was protected in his own little coccoon. Breylan was unharmed with the exception of a few scratches and bumps and bruises. See bottom right hand corner of the picture.

There are some days when you think that will never happen to me! A few weeks ago I came up on an accident, it was a rollover and an elderly woman was ejected. The curvey road was and still is menacing. A speed limit sign of 60 MPH marks the road and a caution sign warning of curves but the speed limit below is not dropped. I thought as I was there that day this is not far from my parents house, never did I think that on that very same road only a short distance away from that accident and only 2 weeks later would my brother nearly lose his life.

Nick had picked up Breylan and was heading home after work. It was a normal Tuesday night and the sun had already went down. Nick was following behind a young girl. The girl (Rachel J) saw flashes of light from her rearview mirror and looked back to see my brother's truck rolling down the road. She said "it rolled 5 times!" She turned around and went back! Had she not, this story may have had a different ending. Nick's truck had rolled over and embankment and sat behind a mound of dirt, out of sight of any other cars that may be coming. Nick managed to make it to the truck to get Breylan when he heard him crying for his daddy. The young girl only 17 called 911and grabbed my nephew and put him in her car to keep him warm. Nick found his cell phone in the truck, and called my mom. He told her he was in a bad wreck and for her to come to him on that road. The truck was so far off the road they couldn't even see it. It took a little while for the police and ambulance to get there, and once they finally did they decided to take him in the ambulance to Wal-Mart in Macclenny and have him air lifted in Trama One to Shands in Jacksonville. Nick was coughing up blood and his adrenaline had worn off. His right side was in a great deal of pain and I got the call.

I was not ready for Daniel to tell me Nick had been in a wreck. He told me that I needed to prepare to go to the hospital that Nick had been in a bad wreck and everyone was heading to the hospital. I broke down, my daughter Lauren broke down, we were all worried. We didn't know what to expect. Everyone was telling us details, things that the police had said. One officer told my dad had he been wearing his seat belt he would not be alive, and another told my dad had he been wearing his seatbelt he probably would have lost his head. Thinking about those fatal scenerios is heart stopping and every time I look at the picture of the truck I ask God WHY? What is his (Nicks) purpose? I love my brother and I am so thankful he is here and that might sound weird the way I worded it, but Nick has never been a real church going guy, I know he "knows God" and I know he "loves God" but he hasn't really been serving the lord, So I guess my question is "in what way is God going to use him?" And after all this will Nick realize he that he is only here by the grace of GOD!!! That his son was protected, that there was definately a guardian angel there that night. The song Wild Angel's comes to mind, because Nick has always kinda been a wild child! The fact that he is up and walking around today at the hospital is truly a miracle.

The state trooper who was at the scene of the accident that night said he would have to ticket Nick with Failure to control his vehicle and for not wearing his seatbelt. WE have all said that ticket will gladly be paid knowing my brother is alive and going to be alright and with us during these upcoming holidays. I am so glad this has a happy ending. I am very thankful for all the people who have reached out to us, the emails, the cards, the prayers. WE have felt amazing love in this past week and I am hoping when Nick goes home he will have a big crowd to welcome him and to show him how much he is loved!

Always tell your loved ones how much you care, give them hugs and kisses. Don't be ashamed, because you never know when tomorrow might not be there!
