Lauren's Tests

Today we met with Lauren's doctor to discuss her weight and her health. It has come to my attention that she is using the bathroom more frequently. After speaking with the doctor at length about her eating habits, the doctor agreed with me that a child should not be forced to eat those things they do not like, as it can cause food adversions later in life. She did say trying to introduce new foods is alway a great idea. She also gave me a website that is totally awesome. It has tools to help you find calories of the foods you have eaten. It gives you great ideas for getting active. There even contests you can enter to win cool prizes. For those of you who are over weight it's not just for kids! It will show you a pyramid that you can fill in daily what you are eating and it will tell you if you are doing good or bad with your food choices. I know most of us don't need someone to tell us we are doing bad but maybe if we log our foods daily, it will help us to find where we go wrong. Maybe we get enough dairy, but not enough fruits and vegetables. The website is

www.pyramid.gov

Anyway Lauren and I are going to log our foods starting today and hopefully you will see a change in us soon. We need your help though, obviously if you read my blogs you must care about us to some extent so please, please, please, ask how we are doing. Check in and see if we are progressing send me messages on Facebook, whatever you like. It will help me to be more accountable if I know there are people out there watching, waiting to see if we stick with it or give up. It is so hard doing this alone. I have often asked for friends to walk, or try to get healthier together but a week later they are no where to be found.

My goal in all this is to be healthy when I walk on Nov 4th, for the Light the Night with THE KNOCK OUTS! I want to be able to walk that night and not feel winded. To be able to keep up with a walking partner and to finish the walk with PRIDE.

As for the results of Laurens tests they will come in with in a week or so. Updates will follow as soon as I get any news.

My life in a nutshell said...

Melissa you both are in my prayers. I hope everything come back normal for Lauren. Austin is our picky eater. He only eats about 10 foods. I agree you should not force your kids to eat things they don't like. Austn's issues with food is texture. I will check in weekly to see how you all are doing.
