How often do we get second chances? Some people get more than their share of chances to get things right in their life.
What if someone told you that today was your last day on earth? How would you spend it? Would you hold hands with your husband and embrace him more? Would you kiss your kids a 1,000 times and not raise your voice to them. Would you have those final conversations with your family and your closest friends. What would you do if you knew for certain it was your last day on earth?
How do you know its not your last day? No one is promised tomorrow, all to often there are people who are gone much to soon in this lifetime. They die, so sudden in car accidents, illnesses, and sometimes just unexplainable ways. You always hear people say after someone passes I wish I would have_________? You can fill in the blank. Sometimes it's "spent more time with them," maybe it's "talked to them more" and maybe it's I wish " they would have known how much they really meant to me."
Very rarely do you hear the opposite. It seems people are often too busy for the ones who mean the most to them. Think about it, I bet there is someone right now that you have in the back of your mind that you wish you had more time for. Someone that you should call and just say hi. Maybe someone that you should visit that you haven't seen in awhile.
It seems in the not so distant past people sent cards and letters to others to let them know how much they cared, and even just to say hi. In the fast paced world we live in today people barely have time for an email and when they do it's not even an original, it is something someone else forwarded. How sad is it when the world can't even slow down to say I'm thinking of you. I hope by reading this you may reach out to someone that has been on your mind. Because today is your second chance.
Treat everyday as if it's your last. Of course not everyday will be the same and we all have bad days. But the good ones should always out weigh the bad and we should be thankful for them. Not only should we treat our own lives in this manner but the lives of others. Whether it be an adult or a child. There is only one guarantee in life and that is one day we will all die. The future is ours as long as we are here and we can change it for the better or for the worse. We can do our best to let those around us know how much we care, or we can go on being to busy and watching the world pass us by. Just know this, you may never have a second chance.
So Carpe Diem "Seize the Day" while it's there for you seize!
