So as you know I have began walking and I have been walking for at least 11 days straight! Proud much? Why YES! Yes I am! :) Anyway some days I walk in the morning, sometimes in the evening. It usually depends on the weather and to be honest if I slept well the night before. And although I did not sleep well last night I was up and ready to go this morning. Not thinking what day it was! WEDNESDAY! TRASH DAY! Man O' MAN!
Is it just me or have you ever felt like your trash smells or is more disgusting than anyone else?
Well let me tell you it doesn't and here's how I know I walked by about 30 trash cans today and they all smelled like something had died in them. As a matter of fact as I was starting my walk I thought to myself "Gross.....something must have died!" Expecting to see road kill up ahead, I kept my eyes open and the smell grew stronger! Then I realized I was approaching a trash can. My first thought "wow their trash smells as bad as mine!" As I passed the can a fresh breeze took the stench away. Then it seemed like seconds later it was back again. Lovely right? As I looked ahead at the road before me I saw several cans full.
I began to think of these cans with great symbolism. Our lives can sometimes be full of ugly, stinky stuff that we want to get rid of. So we stuff it into an emotional trash can and unfortunately the following can and probably will happen:
1. Like the trash can by the roadside we can over flow, I know there have been times where our cans are overloaded with stuff. As we cram our emotional "can" there is only so much that will fit. Our emotions start flowing outside of ourselves and in time others, most likely will be affected.
2. The can gets knocked over. Have you have just felt the wind has been knocked out of your sails? Trials are always going to come its just a matter of time. What matters is how you fight the battle. Without the help of humans the dirty empty trash can would lay on the side of the road for weeks, maybe months. A change of weather might come and blow the can to the street, then its hit by a car. Now it is even more damaged than it was before. If someone offers help don't turn it down. In fact ask for help. There is nothing worse than feeling like you are alone. And we never truly are!
3. Animals come in and shred your trash all over the yard. People are Harsh! They can and will use your weaknesses against you, even when they know they have weaknesses of their own. The main difference here is that the animals don't know they are doing anything wrong they are merely looking for food for survival.
4. The sad thing about a trash can is it can never really be used for anything good again. It's purpose is for foul, rotten, vile, junk! You can wash it and even use bleach but it will never be what it once was. Our circumstances in life will definitely change us. There is no doubt we will relearn things all though out our lives. There are events that will change our lives completely, in fact a matter of minutes can change your whole world. It could be for the good or for the bad.
Now some good news!
Like the cans beside the road most of us are picked up when we are knocked down. Maybe its by the spouse who is a constant in your life. Maybe it the best friend who instantly prays for you in any circumstance. It could even be that relative that lives far away but often makes time for you when ever you need to talk. Whoever they are make sure they know you love them! Make sure they know you appreciate them. Never take for granted those who pick you up.
The moral of this story is everyone has trash and although you may think yours is worse than anyone else. It isn't! There is always someone who has had it worse or IS going through something worse. Maybe, you couldn't relate to any of this and you are one of those other people. You know the ones who think their JUNK doesn't stink, well all I can say is....... we'll save that for another day!
