It is crazy how quickly your world can get turned upside down. We knew the move was going to pose some challenges. But we were not prepared for what we would face. I spent a long day enrolling my kid in school last week. It began at 8:30 am and ended at almost 2:00 pm. It seemed everything was going well and then the first day came. The kids went to 3 different schools. The local elementary, the junior high and the high school. Everyone came home talking about how great their first day was. All accept my junior high daughter.
"Mom something happened at school today."
"What happened Kaylin?"
"I don't want to tell you."
I knew from previous conversations in the past this was not going to be good.
I didn't want to push her so I asked once more and she shied away from the question so I let her be, hoping she would come to me later wanting to talk. She did.
She began to share with me that two students in her class were having Oral Sex in class. She didn't do a lot of the speaking but I began to put 2 and 2 together and asked the questions and she would respond. My heart broke for her. She is such a good girl. She is very modest and doesn't dress or act like a floozy. She doesn't need to be in an environment that allows that to happen. My first question was where was the teacher, her first response was we had a sub. The original teacher had broke her ankle and so this particular class had a permanent sub until she can return. He was in the classroom but was walking around. So every time his back was turned the girl went down.
Imagine how awkward that must have been. I wish she would have got up and walked out right then, but it was the end of the day and so she just dealt. She sad she wanted to go to the office but he was afraid her bus would leave her. So the very next morning we went to the school. I spoke with the Vice Principal (because the principal was in a meeting with the local news paper) who apologized and said this hasn't happened "this year." If that statement doesn't break your heart nothing will. Why are kids having Oral Sex? I know parents can't be everywhere. I get that kids are going to do what they want to do, but I truly believe if you are loving on your child and teaching them respect for themselves and respect for others they wouldn't be doing things like this.
SO I expected the principal to call to apologize for what happened mostly because this is what the Vice Principal said would happen and I have yet to receive a call. I did receive a call from the Sheriffs office and the sex crimes unit questioning us about what happened. These KIDS could be charged with a SEX CRIME! They could also be transferred to another school. The school is one for problem children. So this brings me to my next question.
What good does it do to send all the bad kids to one school?
So we withdrew her from school that very morning and she has not been back, she will not go back! Home school will be our only option for the rest of this year. Luckily we have been blessed with some amazing ladies who do the home school thing and we are doing really well so far. My daughter has been through a lot this past year and there was no way I was going to leave her in that brothel of a school. Please pray for our family. Pray for Mike to find a good job after retirement and that the rest of this school year is uneventful for the rest of the children. Also pray that Kaylin and I don't kill each other as we are so much alike, I am sure there will be days we but heads.
