Transitional Stage

It's time for an update!

So our family is in a total transitional stage a lot of things are happening and a lot of changes have come. So lets begin. We had to move from our home in Orange Park. Our lease was up and the homeowners are returning from their current duty station. I started to panic as I began looking for houses. You know that old saying you get what you pay for well its totally true. We were blessed to find our home in Orange Park. It was near great school that the kids could walk too. The neighborhood was simply amazing. Unfortunately when it came time for us to move there was nothing available in that neighborhood. So the search began.

I learned about a mobile home through my sister in law and the rent sounded great nearly half of what we were paying at the old house. I didn't think much of it at first but instead tossed the thought to the back of my mind and continued my search in the immediate local area. Each house we looked at was nice but they all came with hefty price tags for renting them. Some topping out at $3,000 just to get into them. There was no way we could or even would pay that much. It seemed after each failed attempt my mind would go back to the trailer.

We decided to check it out.

****Here is my disclaimer.****

I have lived in a trailer for most of my life. We didn't have a Central AC Unit, but instead a chicken coop fan that would draw the air through the windows. We probably were the definition most would consider "trailer trash." When Mike and I first got married we lived in a trailer. There is NOTHING WRONG with living in a trailer. I am not better than anyone as a matter of fact I think everyone is better than me. I want people to understand who I am and where I came from before they read this next part as some may think I am trying to belittle or put down those living in trailer parks.

We walked in and the place was small. Tiny. Almost half the size of the place we were living. The rooms were so small there was room for a bed and a dresser at best. The kitchen and dining room are the same room. Where as in the other home we had a breakfast nook, a full dining room, living room, a family room and a living room. If we decided to move to this place it was going to happen with some obvious big changes.

Well guess what we decided to move into the small trailer. Maybe you are asking yourself why? Trust me I asked myself the same thing several times. All I can say is I felt God was telling us this was the right decision. 1. It gives us an opportunity to save money and pay off debt. 2. Our goal is to buy a house, I would say in the next two years. (Mike would say one, I hope he's right, but I am more of a realist.) 3. Smaller quarters means there is less of a place to hide, especially for my teens. And I love it! They seem to be spending more time around us and not in their rooms. So that is exciting to me. 4. Mike retires in 3 months....... WOAH just typing that out gives me the freak outs! So with that being said he needs a new job. Our choice in waiting for him to find that job was to take our family to a less expensive place of living so that we could continue to live comfortably until he finds a good job. It can be kind of stressful when you have been use to a certain way of life for so long. So if we could lessen the burden in anyway this would be it.

So more pool, no more big yard for the kids to play in, no more linen closets, very little storage, no more dishwasher. As I list all these things I am not sad I am actually hopeful for the future. I know this is just a season of our lives and we are making goals to bigger and better things.

Jeremiah 29:11

New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

And this was just the beginning.
