Pins and Needles

Well the day has finally came. Today is the day we are suppose to find out about our orders. Mike put in for 2 sets. One set was for Mayport, which got denied right away. The other was for Pensacola. YIKES! People have asked me "didn't you hate that place." Well I did, in the beginning. I met great people, some even questioned why I even talked to them in the first place. For instance, there was Aimee, the first time I saw her was the day we were moving in. She had 4 kids and they were loading up to go somewhere. I think I said something to the affect of we are your new neighbors. She said hi and introduced her family and off they went. As the days went on we became pretty good friends.

To say were different would be putting it mildly, Aimee has jet black hair, well most of the time. She Often would change it with her mood. I remember one day her long hair was gone. She and her husband had cut it all off, it was cute! I couldn't believe they had done it themselves. Aimee was a very random person. Meaning her likes and dislikes seemed to almost contradict themselves. She would be sewing one day and making sushi the next.

I guess one of the things that drew me to her was the fact that she was a mother, if on any level we could relate to each other, it would be that each of us were mothers, and each having a group of kids. Living out in town we lived in a neighborhood with people mostly over the age of 50, and couldn't really relate to them. Moving into housing was going to be great! We were gonna meet some people and finally have a life again.

Well, it didn't so much happen like that, I probably liked Aimee more than she liked me. I say that because there wasn't a day that went by that I wouldn't at least try to talk to her. Unfortunately there are times when I can be a really pushy friend! Our kids regularly played together and even though they had their spats for the most part peace was resolved soon after. It wasn't until our last year there that we really hit it off.

On Mikes birthday I had taken a pregnancy test and was excited when I found out we were going to have a baby. When I took the pregnancy test to show Aimee she looked at me as if I was an Alien. Come to find out she was pregnant too. We were both going to have babies. How awesome! From there on we shared updates on our Dr's visits and sonogram pics. I remember in January, for my birthday she took me out for the day. I didn't not spend a dime that day, I shopped for the baby on the way, We got a mani, pedi, and we went to dinner. Again I did not spend a cent! It was probably one of the most awesome things ever done for my birthday by a friend.

A few months later we had our babies and once again became busy mommies, time passed and it was time to go, we moved to Jacksonville Florida, and her to Jacksonville North Carolina. I miss her hearty laughs, and her beautiful children.

So the truth is there are some good memories that came from Pensacola. The places we go and the people we meet are what make the adventure bearable. So here I sit reminiscing and wondering once more what the future holds. Will we stay here or will we go. Only one thing is certain, we will soon know!
